Love the trails. The message plaque on the bench carries such a beautiful message I get shivers every time I read it! Curious though about the bark being chopped at and then (i assume) torn up from the side of some of the trees? Is this not harmful, and what is the reason? Thanks to those who put in the efforts they are much appreciated. Gotta add also, although the new sign is nice I really liked the feel of the old one, seemed less corporate.

Got the answer to my question last Sunday when we heard chopping and went to investigate. Turned out to be a long-time aquaintance harvesting for her own cultural use. It was her first time in Hidden Grove and she commented on how beautiful it was. Came across other groups the same day so it looks like Hidden Grove has been "discovered" for that use.

Huge thanks to all those volunteers who are putting in time to improve the trails. The little paths we've been using are wide enough now to make them much more noticeable and more people are venturing off the main loop. Does anyone know who is harvesting cedar bark? Several trees have been stripped in the last couple of days . not that this is a new thing, as there was stipping last year too, but I wonder why whoever is doing it is only choosing trees right near the main paths.

We are so glad we retired in Sandy Hook and so thankful for the many beautiful trails we enjoy daily in the Hidden Grove.
